India – The Largest Democracy, is it?

I have got a mail recently from one of my friend, stating the benefits a Member of Parliament (MP) gets.
A whopping 2.66 lakhs been spent on each MP per month (Average calculated amount based on the details provided, you may visit here to have more on it: http://www.parliamentofindia.nic.in/ls/intro/p8.htm (Certainly this money comes from an average Indians’ pocket). It may be obscure information for a layman, but not for the educated. Why don’t we have tangible information about what we pay to our representative?
People talk about utilizing your power, (We have gone through the process of electing our representative on 16th April 2009). Do you have the power?? I do not think we have the power to control and lead.
I am not here to give any absurd notion, I am persuaded with it. Now we have the power to elect our representative. Do we have the power to control them?
This is what I envisage, during the election; candidate should come with an action plan with exact time line. We should look at how the representative is performing. Is it according to the action plan and expectation? If no, we should call the representative back.
If such a situation develops, people will stick with their promise and would see a better and prosperous India.
This has to happen, this is democracy, and it is not just utilizing your power. It is for us, for the common man, not only for politicians.
Awake and raise your voice.
